Hutong stories are written using a lot of Beijing dialect and "err's voice", which non-Beijingers may not be able to understand. The "er's voice" is not learned by children who live in hutongs and can't be learned from adult Beijingers. Adults from other places learn the "err's voice" and become "cowardly".
