Lin Ye, 19 years old, is a sophomore student in the Photography Department of Southern Communication University. He has an introverted and sensitive personality and is good at capturing details through the lens. He suffers from "pathological empathy" inherited from his family (highly aware of the pain of others, but able to remain calm under extreme pressure). His grandfather was a suspect in the unsolved "Red Coat Serial Murder Case" in the 1980s. (Not convicted), the "Scarlet Ritual" serial murder case that spanned 30 years reappeared. The dead were placed in specific postures, and metal fragments with the protagonist's family symbols were implanted in their bodies. Lin Ye was forced to get involved in the investigation, and found that the case was closely related to his grandfather's secrets, the mysterious organization "Chrysalis" and a "blood-mad gene" that can control human violent instincts.
