"Zhao Zhao" is a novella that uses realism to describe the struggle of contemporary Chinese women. The protagonist Zhaozhao, a 36-year-old Hui woman from Henan, uses her tenacity and wisdom to support a family in poverty and difficulties, and achieves a life span from having nothing to owning a house and a car. Through Zhao Zhao's life trajectory, the novel shows Chinese women's survival wisdom, maternal brilliance and persistent pursuit of a better life.
