In the late Qing Dynasty, the timid but cunning Shaoyi was an ordinary boy herding cattle in the fields. He had braids on his head and his forehead was shaved. A sudden deep pit caused him to fall through time and space into the cold and gloomy modern Edinburgh.
Alone in a foreign land, hungry and cold, he accidentally discovered a Chinese grocery store with a Chinese sign. The shelves in the store contained rice, noodles, oil, salt, incense, candles and coins. It was mysterious. What was even more unexpected was that the grocery store proprietress was not only beautiful and charming, but she also seemed to have never appeared in the sun - there was a warmth that did not belong to the world in her eyes.
Since then, every midnight, there are always strange "customers" pushing in the door: some are wearing old robes, others are in torn clothes and pale faces. They just go to that corner of the shelf, silently select incense, candles and ghost coins, and then disappear without a trace in the darkness. Between fear and curiosity, Shaoyi is gradually involved in a series of supernatural incidents: Feng Shui secrets, spells and magic tools, talisman contracts...
