The first story I want to tell is about three men. In 2008, 21-year-old Li Junhui, who was repaying his disabled father's debt, met Wang Haohao, a street boy with no legal status and who had been severely beaten. The two poor boys cuddled up to each other, and Li's father spent all his savings to treat Wang Haohao like a family member. The three of them clumsily kept warm in the cold weather.
The second story is that in 2009, Nan Ge, the owner of the scrap recycling station, met Lili, who had been in trouble for ten years. Knowing that Brother Nan has a family, Lili still indulges in this rare sincerity, but this relationship is destined to be a passing experience in life.
The third story is about Li Yan, a girl who dropped out of school and went to an Internet cafe in 2010, and fell in love with Zhang Long, a gangster from a black mine. The two licked each other's wounds like stray dogs, but Zhang Long eventually died tragically in a fight in the mine, and their story ended before it even began.
The fourth story is that in 2012, Lin Shuang, a college graduate, became a barmaid due to drug addiction. During an anti-drug operation, she met the kind-hearted policeman Wang Bo. Wang Bo accompanies her to detoxify, but she can't resist the entanglement of drug addiction, and in the end she just sighs.
I entered the society at the age of fourteen in 2008, and now I am thirty, and it is only in hindsight that I gradually understand some of my experiences back then. I tell these four independent stories from the perspective of an onlooker, about different life stories of the same sex, the opposite sex, teenagers, and young people. There is nothing earth-shattering, only the struggles, joys and sorrows of the little people in that era, using the simplest words to tell the deeply memorable things I saw and heard.
Intention: Use words to be the enemy of time and remember the years that cannot be returned.
