The Su family, a famous family in the Qing Dynasty, was framed by the treacherous minister King Zhao, and the whole family was executed. The eldest daughter Su Wanqing survived by chance, being replaced by a loyal maid, but she was demoted to the humble maid Su Xiaoqing, thrown into a dungeon and tortured. In order to avenge her hatred, she gritted her teeth and survived. Later, she was discovered by the paranoid Gyeonggi Guard general Gu Yunyi. Because she looked exactly like his wife Chu Yuyan, who died in childbirth, she was forced to take her into the palace to become a substitute.
Su Wanqing endured the humiliation and shouldered the burden.
