In the troubled times of Beiyang, the orphan Su Ningyun and her enemy's daughter Ning Yan (pseudonym Yan Ning) fell in love with each other while fleeing and made a private life. His fate suddenly changed, and he was captured by the warlord Zhang Qishan as a caged bird. Ning Ze was disfigured and lame, and hid in a troupe, where he was tempered into a horn, vowing to kill his enemies and save his love. Purpose: The work is based on the theme of the troubled times of the Republic of China. It is an elegy for women in troubled times. It uses the fate of the two heroines to describe how the era of cannibalism and collapse devoured beautiful emotions and life. It celebrates the brilliance of humanity and love in a desperate situation, but more deeply reveals that this brilliance is small and powerless, thus triggering reflection on rights, gender and destiny.
