I learned to watch people's actions, learned to swallow my grievances, and learned to hide in the room and pretend to read when they were quarreling - these "sensible" instincts were developed when I was afraid of being abandoned when I was a child.
When I grew up, I realized that not all homes are like safe havens. Some homes are holes where I have walked a long way and want to go back and mend them, but the more I mend them, the more painful the holes become.
