Li Shutong (1880-1942), one of the "Three Sons of Buddhism", was named Hongyi. His first name was Wen Tao, but he changed his name to An, with the courtesy name Xishuang or Xishuang. His ancestral home is Pinghu, Zhejiang. His father, Shizhen, also known as Xiaolou, was a Jinshi in the fourth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1865).
