The Concubine's Daughter Reads the Yin Scroll by Lamplight, the Imperial Uncle Helps Me Right Old Wrongs

In this Great Jing dynasty, an unknown ancient yin-yang law governs heaven and earth: the living can enter the underworld to revisit century-old injustices and rewrite their fated destinies. But for every old case in the mortal world they alter, they must bear an equal new karmic burden, at random cost to their lifespan, fortune, or romantic fate.

People know only that life and death are fated and retribution is decreed by heaven. Only two kinds of people can touch this forbidden rule:

First, the mortal Lamplighter woman, born with a baleful fate. Her soul is naturally clear and is not bound by the laws of yin and yang. She is the only living person who can freely travel between the worlds of the living and the dead and read the underworld’s case files.

Second, the law-keeping underworld constable demoted and stranded in the mortal world, the male lead. For once changing the laws of heaven in secret to overturn a wrongful conviction against a loyal official, he was stripped of his divine rank and powers, trapped in the mortal world for a century. He is tasked with guarding the rift between the worlds and capturing evil spirits that cross over, and can never return to the underworld.
