Synopsis

He Mo has always believed that eerie plays, with their dark, disturbing themes and wall-to-wall negativity, are bound to drive actors to a mental breakdown if they perform in them for too long. So he insists on adding a few absurd characters and comic plotlines to lighten things up.

The more the theater objects, the more it proves he's doing the right thing. It shows that he's exposed the theater's intention to torment its actors through eerie plays.

The more the actors object, the more it proves he's doing the right thing. Precisely because they don't understand him, he has to double down and help them see how much he cares.

As for whether he's actually saving the actors or dragging the entire theater into even deeper absurdity, that question simply doesn't exist within his system of logic.
