My Mom Sold Me for a Bride Price, So I Hired an Ex-Convict to Return Me

My name is Li Shenshen. I'm twenty-eight. My own mother took 200,000 yuan in bride price money from someone and forced me to marry him, so she could use the money to bail my younger brother out of trouble.

I gave a cold laugh and returned the money. My whole family went ballistic. To get some peace, I paid 300 yuan a day to hire a blind date as my fake boyfriend.

His name was Xiao Xun. He was a burly construction worker, all muscle and calloused hands. No one in the whole town would hire him, because he'd done time and had a criminal record.

My relatives all laughed at me for being crazy. Why pass up a big-shot businessman for a penniless loser? But later, when a competitor spread rumors about me, he prepared the documents in advance and shut them down on the spot. When my ex showed up with his fiancee to cause a scene, Xiao Xun stood in front of me like a mountain.

When my shop was about to go under, he poured all his savings into it. "Count this as my investment."

After the shop took off, he made me something different to eat every day.

One day, he lost his nerve and tried to back away. In front of everyone in town, I grabbed his hand. "He made mistakes. That's in the past. Now he's mine. Who dares lay a hand on him?"

That evening, after closing time, I leaned against the counter and watched him fix a fan. "Hey, your fake-boyfriend trial period is up. Want to make it official?"

His ears turned red. He answered in a low voice, "You decide. I'll do whatever you say."
