The 1990s: I Get Rich Marrying a Tech Geek

[The 1990s, Effortless Success, Investing, Financial Freedom]

Liu Mianmian, a post office employee, slept at work, while Shang Yangui, a telecom technician, played games after work.

The two lazybones married just to qualify for their work units' housing allocation.

After the wedding, they each lived their own lives and could barely be bothered to eat together.

One day, Shang Yangui was sorting through old books when he found a subscription certificate he'd bought on a whim years earlier. Its value had soared eight hundred times.

Liu Mianmian also found the company shares she'd received in lieu of wages in a drawer. When she checked their value, she discovered they were worth a fortune.

The two lazybones suddenly realized that the "junk" they'd casually accumulated had all turned into gold mines in the economic boom of the 1990s.

A demolition notice for an old street, bonds from an electric appliance factory on the verge of bankruptcy, unwanted farmland in the suburbs...

Everything they'd been too lazy to deal with was skyrocketing in value.

Twenty years later, while their colleagues were still competing fiercely for professional titles, this lazy couple had already retired in comfort.

Were they really lazy, or just good at pretending?
