I'm a Coroner, and the Sky Screen Is Broadcasting the Crime Scene Live

The marquis's illegitimate daughter was reported to have thrown herself into a well, but the young coroner Shen Zhaotang refused to sign the examination report and was forced to accept the blame for stealing a hairpin and destroying the body.

She picked up her brush and finished drawing the dead woman's half-finished eyebrow. Suddenly, the night sky above the capital lit up. The top scholar and the marquis's legitimate daughter were shown grabbing wrists and pushing her into the well. Even their words about forging a suicide note played loud and clear.

When a second, unidentified charred corpse turned up, the sky screen revealed where the military payroll ledgers were hidden. The Minister of Revenue shouted that it was sorcery while sending people to burn the books.

The world thought she could question ghosts and gods. Only Shen Zhaotang knew the truth: the sky screen only showed the dead person's final ten minutes. What it couldn't show still had to be investigated by the living.

She and the veteran coroner Qin Su kept a funeral home, laying the dead to rest with dignity and helping them reclaim their names.

Until an old record was opened: a woman who was bringing them hot water had actually been registered as burned at the stake by the authorities three years earlier.
