[Male First-Person Narration] [Severe Depression] [Intense Tragic Romance] [Terminal Illness and Redemption] [Double Reversal]
I'm a terrible person. Before I met Youyou, I was a wildfire that burned everything in its path.
She fell ill with severe depression. The rain had just stopped that day when she changed into a floral dress, took my hand, and said she wanted to eat hot pot.
Standing at the crosswalk, just as the light turned green, she smiled and said, "Actually, I want to try and see if I can stay alive for you."
Then an out-of-control truck crushed her right in front of me.
She died on the very day she most wanted to live.
I swallowed pills and slit my wrists, thinking I had been reborn.
I tried with all my might to avoid that damned truck, taking her to hide in the south and locking her inside our home. But no matter how many times I started over, she died before my eyes.
Until a psychiatrist's electric shock jolted me awake. "Mr. Lin, your wife died two years ago. You've lost your mind."
It turned out I had never been reborn. All those struggles, embraces, and tender moments were delusions I had made up in the psychiatric hospital.
I thought I was going to rot in the mud for the rest of my life.
Until another woman, carrying a flower basket, kicked open the door of my dilapidated flower shop.
This is the story of someone who crawls out of a pile of corpses, broken and with a damaged leg, yet still forces himself to walk the rest of his life.
I give myself five stars for a book I wrote. Is that okay?
