At 3:17 a.m. on April 12, 2037, Beijing lost its internet connection.
It wasn't a power outage. In a "digital siege," every smart device was being switched off one by one, from streetlights to air conditioners, from robots to the entire city.
The old terminal in the hands of chip test engineer Kuang Jiajian was the only device still lit. It told him just one thing:
"Restorable component detected."
Streetlights, radios, military walkie-talkies, a robot that said "please" before its power cut out...
The more things he repaired, the more he realized every clue pointed to the same place: Huaxin Intelligent Computing Center, his workplace.
And to an answer he dared not imagine: this internet blackout might have been deliberately engineered.
