Cheng Yu takes on a secret campus side job: selling emotional fulfillment in romance, accepting commissions to play someone's pursuer or temporary partner. He signs four contracts at once: Jiang Qinhe, the aloof campus beauty, asks him to pretend to pursue her and fend off an obsessive rich playboy; a haughty heiress wants affectionate greetings reserved just for her, to satisfy her vanity and need to feel special; a heartbroken upperclassman asks him to play a gentle younger student and help her get over her breakup; and a shy, socially anxious girl hires him to pretend to be her boyfriend and help her practice socializing.
On the day he takes the job, Cheng Yu lays down three ironclad rules: stick to the script and never get emotionally involved; settle the bill on time and never go off-script; when the contract expires, walk away immediately.
Cheng Yu is handsome and exceptionally empathetic, with a gift for sensing the vulnerabilities buried deep in people's hearts. He's practically an incubus in human form. But the arrangement gradually slips out of his control. Jiang Qinhe secretly gets jealous when he shows warmth to someone else; the haughty heiress secretly tears up her contract, unwilling to remain just the client; the heartbroken upperclassman becomes immersed in his tenderness and wants to turn their act into reality; even the timid, socially anxious girl gathers the courage to confess to him.
