Gu Lan is a three-time Golden Venus Award-winning actor, the top-tier star among top-tier stars. He appears gentle, refined, and charming, but in truth, he's a sly and calculating old fox.
Su Nuan is the only Black Knight in the game Temple War. She has defended her title as champion of the Scepter Tournament time and again, earning the nickname "Great Demon King" from players. Yet the Black Knight who dominates the arena stammers in private, like a timid, shy cat.
Before meeting Su Nuan, he never believed in love at first sight. After meeting her, he knew he could never love anyone else.
So the fox set a trap, engineering a series of "chance" encounters.
While abroad, he canceled his schedule and took a long vacation, chasing her to another city to arrange a perfectly timed encounter. In the end, he joined her variety show as a guest. He quietly memorized all her preferences and flirted with her, both openly and in subtle ways.
After returning home, he created an alternate account in the game, pretending to be a clueless novice player who feared nothing, and followed the Great Demon King everywhere. She had no idea that this pet-like "teammate" was the superstar she liked most.
He slowly entered her life, learned about her past, and little by little healed the loneliness etched into her bones.
But the day they agreed to meet was a complete fiasco. In his panic, the fox's secret identity was exposed, and the cat was so furious she wanted to climb out of her hospital bed and scratch him.
"Why... did you lie to me?" she asked, coughing twice in anger.
"Because I like you. I'm your loyal fan," he said with a smile after a moment's thought.
How could that not count as a success? It was clearly a fox luring a cat: the willing prey took the bait.
