After awakening, Wen Yu learns that she is the wicked villainess in a novel, doomed to a tragic end.
She passed herself off as the wealthy Jin family's adopted daughter, treating her fiancé, Jin Han, like a lackey and his uncle, Jin Chen, like an ATM. She made them both run errands for her without holding back.
To change her tragic fate, she starts keeping herself in check and behaving sensibly, determined to stop causing trouble for the Jin family, leave them with a good impression, and make a graceful exit.
But the more obedient she becomes, the less willing the two men are to let her go.
Jin Han is all sharp words. He fusses over the real heroine, yet still refuses to call off his engagement to Wen Yu.
Jin Chen is even worse, speaking gently and granting her every request, as if he can't wait to hold her in the palm of his hand.
Then rumors of Jin Han and the real heroine's affair come to light. Wen Yu breathes a sigh of relief, finally with a reason to break off the engagement.
She packs her bags and leaves for a distant place.
But at the airport, Jin Chen catches up with her and corners her. “Why are you leaving?”
Wen Yu grits her teeth and tells him the truth. “I'm not your family's fiancée. I was pretending to be.”
Jin Chen looks down at her, his voice as calm as if he were commenting on the weather. “I know.”
Wen Yu freezes.
“I've known from the very beginning.” He steps closer, lowering his voice. “You've deceived me all these years. Don't you think you owe me something?”
“Marry me, and I'll forgive you.”
On her wedding day, Wen Yu stands before the priest in her wedding dress, still completely dazed.
Jin Han rushes in, eyes red. “Uncle! How could you marry her? She's my fiancée!”
Jin Chen slips the ring onto Wen Yu's finger without looking back. “You should call her Auntie now.”
