A Fierce Soldier in the Late Qing: Starting with the Victory at Langfang

In the winter of 1898, the Yellow River burst its banks, and corpses from famine littered Guan County, Shandong. Chen Ping opens his eyes to find himself a cannon-fodder Boxer, about to be sent out to test the foreigners' guns! Ahead, foreign missionaries oppress the people, while corrupt altar masters profit by spending human lives. Behind him looms the national catastrophe of the Eight-Nation Alliance closing in on the capital. Since "invulnerability to blades and bullets" is a lie, he'll use modern military engineering and ironclad tactics to build a truly impregnable defense! He'll improve field cannons, decode telegrams, and cut the Beijing-Yulin Railway. Watch as an insignificant Boxer fights the Seymour Expedition at Langfang, making them pay dearly, and cuts a path to national salvation through the desolate late Qing Dynasty!
