Please Stop Worshipping Me! I'm Really an Evil Spirit!

[Subverts the Tropes] [Lovably Shameless Male Lead] [Everyone Misunderstands Him] [Reverse Mooching]

“Stop bowing! I'm an evil spirit! I'll bring disaster and calamity!”

The people, eyes brimming with tears: “The Divine One is so humble! He shelters the people from wind and rain. How could he be an evil spirit?”

He casually saves someone, and they kowtow. He casually fixes a road, and they erect a monument.

Both the righteous and evil factions are completely baffled: How can this evil spirit care about the people more than the gods of the righteous path?

Every day, he's on the verge of a breakdown: Please, good people, have mercy and leave me alone!
