The world has a rule: every villain defeated by the protagonist must be forced into retirement.
Chen Mo is the sole director of the Villain Retirement Office. His daily work includes arranging social insurance for demon kings, finding square-dance partners for world-enders, and persuading mad scientists to stop modifying themselves. Then the heroes all lose their jobs, monsters refuse to work, and the prophecy System shuts down. The world's narrative begins to collapse.
Chen Mo is forced to bring back a retired team of saviors: former Demon King Ao Guang, whose only remaining power is cheating at fishing and who now lives in fear of his wife checking up on him; former hero Lin Jian, whose holy sword has rusted, so he delivers takeout and flashes his employee badge before swinging at anyone; and mad scientist Dr. Zhao, who has turned his doomsday virus into cold medicine and is so socially anxious that he needs catnip to lure himself out.
Other people level up through cultivation. Chen Mo levels up through promotions. Other people fight with their fists. He relies on contracts, KPIs, and workers' compensation claims. Then he receives a retirement application: Applicant: Chen Mo. Position: Next Demon King.
