Rivals + mutual secret crushes + everyone gets the gossip. All you need is sweetness. A super-short, sweet little treat~
[After I called off my engagement, my rival became my partner]
Jiang He is the head of the criminal investigation team in City A, and the whole bureau agrees she is a stunning ice-cold beauty known as the Grim Reaper.
On the day she calls off her engagement, she pushes open the office door, radiating enough icy pressure to freeze someone to death.
Then she sees Ling Baizhou, her lifelong rival, a special guest forensic pathologist rumored to have enough girlfriends to make up a soccer team.
He leans against the doorframe, his flirtatious eyes narrowing. "Well, Captain Jiang. Heard you called off your engagement. Congratulations."
She punches him in the nose.
Later, a serial case breaks out. All four victims share traits similar to hers.
The killer is "practicing," searching for the perfect way to strike.
The bureau chief says, "Dr. Ling, you're assigned to assist Captain Jiang."
She says, "I refuse."
He says, "My pleasure."
From then on,
he leans close to whisper in her ear in the morgue.
At crime scenes, he shields her behind him.
In the office, he locks the door from the inside.
She says, "Ling Baizhou, are you sick or something?"
He smiles and leans close to her ear. "I am sick. My illness is called Jiang He."
Only later does she learn that
his "soccer team of girlfriends" is fake.
His "womanizing ways" are an act.
He has waited for her for seventeen years.
"Jiang He, ever since we were kids, I've wanted to tear off that icy mask of yours."
"Now you've seen the real me. Satisfied?"
"Not yet. I want to see you cry for me, smile for me, and wear a wedding dress for me."
Rivals turned partners, mutual secret crushes, seventeen years of devotion, guaranteed happy ending.
