Matriarchy: General Yun Wants to Be a Good Woman

As the pampered youngest child, Yun Xiao grew up spoiled and used to throwing her weight around.

Even after marrying a husband from a family of equal standing, she refused to settle down, spending every day carousing with her childhood friend.

Her mother, the General Who Pacifies the North, could no longer stand it and forcibly took her to the battlefield to toughen her up. She brought her son-in-law along too, hoping it would bring the young couple closer.

Yun Xiao insisted on defying her mother. She would rather drink and make merry every day with the Commandery Lord of Changle, who disguised himself as a woman, than spare her husband a glance.

Her husband stormed off. He and the childhood friend, who had secretly followed them, were captured by enemy troops and tied to the city tower, forcing her to choose between them.

Yun Xiao instinctively chose her childhood friend. The enemy general slit both captives' throats in front of her, then took advantage of her distraction to shoot her with a hidden arrow.

Yun Xiao was lucky enough to survive, but when she awoke, she was being held under guard in a tent.

The Commandery Lord of Changle held out a cup of wine and said she attracted too many admirers. He demanded that she fake her death and become his kept pet, or else face punishment for all her offenses and a gruesome end.

Yun Xiao refused, of course. As the two struggled, the Commandery Lord of Changle accidentally died. Staring at the unmoving chest, Yun Xiao chose to take her own life in terror, but her heart was filled with resentment.

She was only twenty. She hadn't yet made a name for herself, and she still had so much life to enjoy... How could she have thrown it all away over a man?

When she opened her eyes again, she was back on the day she married her husband.

This time, General Yun only wants to treat her husband well and work hard to make a name for herself.

But can someone explain why, even after she turned over a new leaf, they all keep throwing themselves at her?
