On payday, zombies stormed into the sales office.
Electrician Chen Fang fled with his younger brother to an unfinished building. The infected kept slamming into the doors below. The building's food and water would last only a few meals, and the street was already completely blocked.
If they wanted to survive, they had to find a way themselves.
They retrieved their tools, went out to trade for food, and secured the floors that were fit to live in. Chen Fang and his coworkers repaired doors and restored power. A nurse cared for the sick and injured. Those willing to join them stayed and took shifts. Little by little, the unfinished building, which didn't even have all its windows installed, gained lights, meals, and companions willing to fight for their lives together.
But barely had they brought back food and water when people blocked their way and tried to steal it. As the building improved, someone began leaking information. The people in control of transportation wanted to use food shortages to force them into obedience.
Chen Fang was willing to work with others, but he would never trade his brother's and companions' lives for a chance to survive.
From securing a few rooms to building workshops and opening up supply routes, then facing the zombie horde to defend the whole building, he and his companions would turn this abandoned unfinished structure into a true fortress they could call home.
