The four-year-old "jinx" of a little girl was nearly drowned in a pond, but survived. She leads her disabled family, whose loved ones have been left with broken legs, blindness, and speechlessness, to sever ties with her once and for all. With her supernatural ability to hear the voices of plants and trees, she finds spirit herbs in the barren mountains, brings forth mountain springs, builds trade routes, and saves the land from famine. She turns a ruined family with no heirs into the greatest family of imperial officials and merchant nobility in the realm. Her three older brothers eventually become the dynasty's God of War, God of Wealth, and Grand Secretary.
