Programmer Lin Mo wakes up to find that the little finger of his left hand has vanished without a trace. The doors and windows are locked, with no sign of an intruder, and the severed finger is nowhere to be found. The police are helpless, and the case goes cold.
Under his bed, he finds a yellowed note bearing a string of mysterious numbers.
The numbers lead him to a “human potential development” gathering he attended six months ago. The organizer, Mr. Chen, had sharp eyes and spoke in riddles. He once told Lin, “There's something special about you, Mr. Lin. You just haven't noticed it yet.”
When Lin follows his memories back to the old building, an elderly woman downstairs whispers to him:
“There's something wrong with those people... At night, there are often cries from upstairs. And some people come out with their hands wrapped in bandages.”
His finger isn't the only thing he's lost.
And the truth isn't the only thing drawing closer.
