Chen Li transmigrates into the body of a poor border baron. The Church burns magic users at the stake, while fleeing rune sorcerers hide on his land. With blueprints from the System, he sets up a blacksmith's shop beside a rune-engraving workshop, then topples the king and overturns the pyres.
Only after taking the throne does he discover that the crown comes with a lock: the parliament, guilds, and Church each take control of declarations of war, tax increases, and troop deployments. A coalition of eight nations bears down on his borders, while Church elders tear open a rift in time and space and monsters pour through. Runes engraved on bullets let ordinary people pull a trigger and unleash ice and lightning.
The monsters retreat, and the old order collapses. He refuses to be the only one holding a blade, instead dividing power among factories, schools, and local councils.
So ordinary people can hold on to it, and never have it snatched back by the stake again.
