A hidden construction-era stress defect lurked in the high-temperature reheater pipes of Unit 1 at Linjiang Power Plant. This long-dormant "ticking time bomb" hung over the entire power generation system, posing a major safety risk that could not be ignored.
Project Deputy Director Lin Zhou rose to the challenge. Faced with the urgent task of ensuring power supply on one hand and resistance from differing opinions on the other, he withstood immense pressure and insisted that the unit be shut down to address the defects. The team overcame obstacle after obstacle and tackled this long-neglected engineering challenge, solving the technical problem. The unit successfully completed a 168-hour full-load trial run, with all parameters stable and within specifications, and was officially handed over for operation.
Commissioning is not the end of a project. Su Qing, a technical specialist, knew that most hazards take root during the construction stage. She resolutely gave up her secure senior position at the power plant and returned to the front lines of construction, taking root at the source of the project to oversee construction quality and build the first line of defense for equipment safety.
Through the changing seasons, the torch is passed on. Generations of energy workers have braved the cold and heat, gone to the front lines, and followed one another in service. With dedication and craftsmanship, they keep the lights on in homes across the country, devoting themselves to China's power industry.
This work is dedicated to all those who build China's energy infrastructure.
