The story is told in third person. The following is the synopsis:
I was once the Empire's most dazzling rose, until my fiance and best friend betrayed me together, making me a laughingstock across the universe on my wedding day.
They took my family crest and exiled me to a remote mining planet to fend for myself.
Ten years later, when I return with enough wealth to buy half the Empire, that wretched couple are in a panic over their imperial celebration.
The Empire's new marshal kneels before me and places the star crown, a symbol of supreme power, upon my head. "Your Highness, your kingdom is waiting for you to come home."
Author's note: This is an interstellar empire, but the royal family has long since disappeared. Only relics of the old era, such as the imperial palace, remain. The present-day Empire has no emperor. "Your Highness" is merely an honorific.
