After graduating from college, Naruto submitted over a hundred resumes before finally receiving a job offer from a company.
The benefits were too good to be true. The work was too easy to be true. Even the way his coworkers looked at him seemed unreal.
Then the young boss who had just joined the company pushed open the office door. His gaze swept past everyone and landed squarely on Naruto.
"What's your name?"
"Uzumaki Naruto! Good morning, boss!"
The man was silent for a long time, then the corner of his mouth lifted.
"Mm. I see."
Naruto found it strange. The way the boss looked at him was like he was looking at something he'd lost and finally found again.
Naruto couldn't remember ever losing anything. He couldn't remember anyone ever coming to find him, either.
And he had no idea that this bright office, this job offer that had come out of nowhere, and this man who watched him in silence all the time...
Had all been prepared for him.
The cage he never knew about had been locked from the very first day he walked in.
