One stomp on the accelerator from a truck driver, and Zhou Feng goes from a corporate drone on Earth to an orphan in Kanagawa.
He's fifteen, with an apartment building that brings in rent, an inheritance enough to last until he graduates from college, and just one month until Shohoku High School starts.
All he wanted was to pull up a chair and watch the show. Watch Hanamichi Sakuragi get rejected after confessing, Kaede Rukawa fall asleep on his bike, and Hisashi Mitsui bring his gang to trash the gym before dropping to his knees in tears. What fun.
Unfortunately, his eyes have other ideas.
Once he sees any skill, it gets etched into his mind: shooting, driving, fakes. Then it automatically corrects, strengthens, and upgrades. One glance at Shinichi Maki's spin move, and he's learned it. One glance at Sawakita's floater, and he's learned it. One glance at Coach Anzai's "heh heh heh," and he's learned that too.
"Don't take it seriously. If you do, you've already lost," Zhou Feng says, munching on chips.
Then he turns around, flips the Shohoku bench upside down, and strides onto the court with a grin.
"But since I'm here, it would be a shame not to make Sannoh cry."
