In the primeval forests along the Yunnan-Myanmar border, a beast with no memories awakens amid a bloody internal conflict.
Who is he? A Black Flag Army officer who usurped power, or a bloodthirsty demon lying in wait in the mountains?
Facing the overwhelming firepower of Japanese special forces and the relentless encirclement of imperialist warlords, Chen Feng has no choice. He dons a mask and uses the cruelest cold weapons and the most extreme special-operations tactics to crush every enemy who comes for him. But in 1941, as the tragic retreat of the expeditionary force begins and his British and American allies bare their fangs like venomous snakes, he finally understands: in this colonial arena where the strong prey on the weak, merely surviving means becoming a slave.
From gathering scattered remnants of the army and fighting his way across the Indochinese Peninsula, to unearthing ancient Han inscriptions and awakening the blood of the Nanyang, Chen Feng builds a vast war machine through absolute violence and any means necessary.
But when one old comrade after another is reduced to ashes in the flames of war, and the throne of a Chinese empire is forged from piles of bones, what price must he pay to build a peaceful world for those restless souls, a world where every place touched by the sun and moon can be called home?

A very beautifully written book, it continues the style of the previous one, and is not so protracted (the following sentence is my personal opinion, you don't need to read it, the last book did feel a bit uncomfortable after reading it)
A good article with flesh and blood
