The thirty-fifth year of the First Emperor’s reign.
Shen Yan transmigrates to the Qin Empire and becomes a convict craftsman in the Alchemy Bureau, moments away from being beheaded.
“Your Majesty, if you keep taking this stuff, immortality isn’t guaranteed, but ascending to heaven definitely is, and soon.”
After a test dose, every alchemist in the hall is dumbfounded.
Only then does Ying Zheng realize that the elixir he has been taking for years is actually a deadly poison.
But when Ying Zheng asks about the true way to immortality, Shen Yan can only grit his teeth and tell him:
The true immortal realm has no immortals and no elixirs.
There’s more food than anyone could eat, steel everywhere, messages sent in an instant across a thousand miles, steel beasts that travel a thousand miles a day, and ordinary people who can fly into the heavens and even command thunder!
The more Ying Zheng hears, the brighter his eyes grow.
“Then build it.”
Shen Yan: “Huh?”
“I said,”
“Bring the immortal realm from your dreams to the Qin Empire!”
The next day, Ying Zheng issued an edict.
“From this day forward, the entire Qin Empire will be devoted to building the immortal realm!”
And so...
It all began with a steel sword.
The Qin Empire’s style gradually started to get a little strange.
The Xiongnu: “Why can’t we cut through the Qin army’s blades?”
The Western Regions: “Why can their steel beasts move by themselves?”
Rome: “Why are the Qin fleet’s ships made of iron?”
Years later, Ying Zheng stood before a map of the world, looking at the continents now covered in black dragon banners. He frowned and asked:
“Shen Yan, how far along is the immortal realm?”
Shen Yan looked up and pointed at the sky.
“Your Majesty.”
“We’ve pretty much finished the world below.”
