[Historical focus, political intrigue, not a power fantasy, slow burn]
In the Western Jin, powerful aristocratic clans held sway. The distinction between legitimate and illegitimate children was clear, and the gap between the high and low-born was as vast as heaven and earth.
Wang Zhun, the illegitimate son of Wang Jun, wanted nothing more than a peaceful life and had no intention of entering the vortex of power.
But the age was in decline, and the tides of chaos swept him along.
As he watched loyal and upright people see their ideals shattered, and the wounded people suffer oppression, Wang Zhun gripped the broken blade in his hand and pointed it toward the collapsing world.
"If this age will allow no one to live in peace, then I will be the one to set it right with my own hands!"
(The pacing is slow throughout, with a lot of setup and foreshadowing. Because of the protagonist's status and other factors, he may seem overly cautious in the early chapters.
It's not that I don't want to write a fast-paced power fantasy. I simply lack the skill to pull it off, so I humbly apologize to any readers who mind.
Also, if you spot any mistakes or inconsistencies in the book, please feel free to point them out. I'll be very grateful.)
