[Mutually devoted, powerful leads + saving each other + deception for love + rekindled romance]
[Arrogant little ray of sunshine x obsessive, ambitious schemer]
Jiang Lai is dying.
The good news is that she has two options: live for a year or for three months.
The bad news is that she chose three months.
Jiang Lai has had a difficult life since childhood. Her family dotes on her, but also keeps her under suffocating control.
The person she admires most, and the person she has the most conflicted feelings about, is Yu An.
His childhood was just as troubled, but Yu An cultivated loyal followers and eliminated his rivals. He kept people united at home and built up his influence abroad, rising step by step to become one of the three most powerful people on the Aurora Peninsula. He became everything Jiang Lai both envied and found astonishing.
As for Yu An's later flaws, they probably all stem from the way his father controlled him as a child. He agreed to enter a training camp in exchange for his father's promise to let his mother go.
But as soon as he turned away, his mother was drowned.
From then on, he despised deception and took pleasure in being in control.
Now, Jiang Lai has escaped her family's plans and is about to breathe in the air of freedom.
She never expected Yu An to lure her back the moment she stepped outside.
Jiang Lai: "..."
Was she dragged back in again?
Or did she jump in herself?
Yu An looks at the woman who's on his turf, holding medicine from his own shop, and then tries to drug him. He starts to question his life.
Is this how people do things now?
Hello, lisianthus.
Whether she lives or dies isn't important. It's not something she can decide anyway.
What matters is that she wants to experience the things she was once told were dangerous, to experience life in its entirety.
Goodbye, ivory tower.
When they meet again after years apart, she's a rising jewelry designer searching for rough gemstones, and he's a mine owner who sells stones.
He says, "Jiang Lai, long time no see."
She says, "Sorry, sir. My name is Jiang Jinye."
