Lin Yaocheng had died once.
A several-ton coil of cold-rolled steel had rolled right over him.
When he opened his eyes again, he was lying in a strange world, one on the brink of a biological disaster. Everyone on the streets wore masks, the money was in unfamiliar banknotes, and the letters "Z Virus" appeared on the television. And there was a new voice in his head.
"Ding! Connection complete. Welcome back, Supreme Commander."
A real-time strategy mobile game called Global Operations had become his golden finger.
He took in survivors and built a base, starting with two rifles and three soldiers, fighting to stay alive one step at a time. As his forces expanded and leveled up, equipment that had once belonged only to other factions gradually became available to him.
So when the world was swallowed by despair, people saw a sight like this:
Rows of Zeus tanks, wrapped in energy shields, rolled across the scorched earth and steadily advanced. Electronic fog covered the battlefield, where Jaguars and Scorpions lay in wait, tearing into the zombies charging at them. In the rear, countless rockets streaked across the sky and slammed into the churning zombie tide ahead, bursting into blooms of blood and fire. Titans and Falcons escorted the bombers as they roared overhead.
"Commander, only one zombie city remains." A silver-haired girl, formed from countless data blocks, stood at his side. "We've confirmed there are no survivors inside."
Lin Yaocheng looked at the red dot on the holographic map, without hesitation.
"Launch the Airstrike System," he said. "Let's use it to end this apocalypse."
