War of Resistance: The Greediest Official? I'm the Red Shadow

In 1932, in Shanghai, the customs anti-smuggling division had a corrupt chief with a hand in everything: Lu Tinghan.

The Military Statistics Bureau cursed him as a man who cared about money, not people. The underground Party denounced him for bleeding the troops dry. Shanghai’s merchants hid their gold bars in cellars overnight at the sound of his name.

Yet the top brass of the Wang Jingwei regime treated him like a sworn brother, and the head of the Special Higher Police Agency considered him a kindred spirit.

It was only after victory in the War of Resistance, when top-secret files were declassified, that the world discovered the truth, to its horror:

He was the mysterious hand who siphoned off tens of millions in Japanese military funds.

He was the patriotic capitalist who supplied the front lines with tons of penicillin and weapons.

And he was also the “Shadow Killer” whose ten-thousand silver-dollar bounty left Japanese officers dead one after another!

Lu Tinghan flicked the ash from his custom-tailored suit. “I’m just an accountant. I happened to raid a few Japanese hideouts along the way. That’s perfectly reasonable, isn’t it?”
