The Gilded Tent

On the night the entire Fu family was executed, a loyal servant hid Fu Zhilan, saving her life. Later, she fell into the hands of Wangxian Tower, changed her name to Hongxiao, and became the most famous courtesan in Zhaojing. Everyone said that mountains of gold were buried beneath the brocade curtains. Men spent lavishly just to see her once and spend a night with her. But her curtains were never open to just anyone. Xiao Yan was the first to force his way in. Relying on the power of the Wuan Marquis’s household, his money, and a man’s strength, he pinned her beneath him. After that night, she understood once and for all: in this world, if a woman cannot control her own body, she cannot control her own fate either. So she began choosing her targets. Pei Xuan, Lu Jue, Chen Shao: one after another, she lured them into her curtained bedchamber with her own hands. Why did the Fu family fall? Who handed over the knife, who kicked them while they were down, and who seized the Fu family’s power and took over its influence? She had forgotten none of them. And then there were her two older sisters. The eldest had married into the Dingguo Duke’s household, and the second into the Yongning Marquis’s household. After the Fu family fell, news of their deaths arrived one after another: one had supposedly died of postpartum hemorrhaging, the other of an epidemic. She didn’t believe it. She would settle every debt owed to the Fu family, one by one. And she would make everyone pay, one by one, for what they had done to her two sisters. The curtained bedchamber was her trap, and a blade lay hidden beneath the pillow. In the gilded curtains, every step was deadly.
