Divorced at 35, I Left My Son Behind

We got together at 20. We had fifteen years together and ten years of marriage. Before other people had even started dating, I was already divorced. I asked for nothing in the divorce; I only wanted to escape this suffocating home and the man in it. At 35, I'm neither too young nor too old. Let's see how I live for myself this time. I may have no special skills, but I'll fight back from the brink. I want my ex-husband to see me in a new light. I want a better life and a better love. This time, I have to be the protagonist of my own story.
