[Two Male Leads | Older Man and Younger Man | Size Difference | School Life | Reunited After a Breakup | Mutual Healing | HE]
In the third year after their breakup, Cheng Yang hears his ex-boyfriend call his name from among the new students at military training.
"Cheng Yang."
He looks up and meets He Lei's cool gaze.
Three years ago, this was the man who would circle half the track just to bring him a hot breakfast.
Back then, He Lei had a reputation at school for being someone you didn't want to cross. Buzz cut, dark skin, tall, and hard-tempered, he wouldn't necessarily listen to anyone. Yet when Cheng Yang pushed his notebook toward him, He Lei would actually stop and wait to see what was written.
Cheng Yang was quiet, short, and slender, with dimples when he smiled. A single compliment would turn the tips of his ears red, yet he could still put on a stern face and make He Lei redo every problem he'd gotten wrong.
He Lei had only wanted to take a little better care of him. Then Cheng Yang would be late replying to a single message, and He Lei would stare at his phone for ages.
He began training in earnest and carefully filling out his college applications. He and Cheng Yang had even sketched out the home they would live in one day.
But in the end, all he got was a letter.
"I've fallen for someone else. Don't look for me again."
Now that they were reunited, Cheng Yang thought He Lei must hate him. Until someone hurried to answer a question for him, and that familiar voice spoke first:
"Let him write it himself."
Cheng Yang's hand froze around his pen.
Later, across a desk, He Lei looked at him for a long time.
"I still have that letter."
"Cheng Yang, could you write me something true this time?"
