[Famine Years + No Romance + Pocket Dimension + Slow Pace + Not a Doormat] Saving people is purely for the plot
The centenarian Li Anjing dies peacefully of old age, only to wake up in another body in ancient times. She has become a corpse dumped in the wilderness, and inherits all the original owner's memories.
The unfortunate original owner was worked like an ox and treated like a beast of burden by the Sun family. Her short life was miserable and pitiful.
She was also a child maliciously switched at birth by a rival family in the same village, but her biological parents didn't recognize her at all.
That suited her just fine. She, Li Anjing, didn't want a family anyway.
After recovering in the mountains for half a month, she heads straight back to the village and takes the Sun and Xu families hostage. She pleads her case to the village head and clan elders, mixing threats with reason, and cleverly severs all ties with both families. She strips the Sun family of all its grain and valuables, and takes half the Xu family's property.
She buys land, builds a house, digs an ice cellar, and stocks up on supplies. She thinks she can finally live a good life, but a sudden heatwave arrives without warning, throwing all of Li Anjing's plans into disarray.
In the end, she entrusts her newly built house to the village head and goes alone into the mountains to find somewhere to take shelter.
Who could have guessed that deep in the mountains, she would run into a man trying to pull a con? He is on the verge of death himself, yet still begs her to save his master.
Her heart of stone is moved by the man's persistence, so she does one good deed after another and saves the group just as they're about to die.
Li Anjing is focused entirely on getting away, unaware that the most important person among those she saved is one of her biological older brothers.
