Qin Zhao, an immortal cultivator who had cultivated for five hundred years, suddenly returned to the modern-day apocalypse in her soul.
She slept for five days. When she awoke, order had collapsed, mutated beasts roamed everywhere, and the human world had become a wasteland. Her parents were trapped in a desperate situation, and the once peaceful home she knew had become a living hell. A century of cultivation had long since worn away her innocence, leaving only practicality and the instinct to survive.
When she first met Song Chimu, an esper in the apocalypse, her keen senses detected his ability. To protect her family and establish herself in this new world, she immediately set her sights on the power she could borrow from him. She wanted to copy his ability by touching a wound, but the highly vigilant Song Chimu deftly dodged her. Their first meeting ended in an awkward probing of each other, with both on their guard.
As the apocalypse rose and fell around them, fate repeatedly bound the two together. They ran into each other by chance several times, from a besieged supermarket surrounded by a horde of zombies to a ruin-strewn battlefield full of danger. Qin Zhao calmly put her copied abilities to use, saving Song Chimu's teammates again and again. The cold, suspicious man gradually realized that this warmhearted, kind young woman possessed formidable strength and a steady resolve.
From guarded strangers to partners who tacitly traveled together through a chaotic world, their suspicion and distance slowly faded as they fought to survive side by side. Each time their eyes met, Song Chimu felt a strange flutter in his heart and thought of the dream he had had since childhood. In those countless fleeting glances, ripples stirred in Song Chimu's heart, while fragments of Qin Zhao's five centuries of cultivation kept flashing through her mind. When the destiny of an immortal cultivator collided with the warmth of humanity in the desperate apocalypse, she weathered the chaos, reunited with someone from her past, and once again found a new reason to protect this world.
