The Boy the Village Cast Out Hits a Home Run Into the National Team

A rumor has been passed down in Hongtan Village for years: Fu Yun is a fish monster.

When the villagers found him as an infant abandoned in a swaddling cloth, they discovered three lumps of flesh on his chest.

He was different from other people from a young age, with a fearsome appetite and strength far beyond that of children his age.

The villagers feared him deep down, always thinking the child was ill-omened. After several discussions, the village committee finally decided to send him away to an orphanage.

To survive and get a full meal, Fu Yun stumbled into the world of table tennis and took up a paddle.

Everyone was certain that a wild boy burdened by rumors of being a fish monster and a bizarre background was no fit to play table tennis.

Other children played for fun or glory.

Fu Yun picked up a paddle only to break through prejudice, win other people's acceptance, and stop being so easily abandoned.
