He transmigrates into the prehistoric world of Journey to the West, becoming a stubborn stone unrecorded by the Heavenly Dao. He cultivates the Great Art of the Celestial Immortal, refines a nine-aperture stone embryo, and realizes a nameless path that belongs to him alone. Traveling alongside Sun Wukong, he spies on the Dragon Palace, storms the underworld, enters the Celestial Court, and sets out on the Journey to the West. As the Eighty-One Tribulations unfold, he gradually discovers that the history of the prehistoric world has been rewritten again and again, and that the true mission of the Journey to the West is not to fetch the scriptures and attain Buddhahood, but to bring the entire age of myth to an end. When the Heavenly Dao names him the Eighty-Second Tribulation, he must decide: accept a future set in stone, or carve out a path for all living beings that has never existed before.
