Jinsheng can see traces.
A blade leaves a trace when it falls.
A person leaves a trace when they die.
Even a departing soul leaves a trace.
Others see the result. He sees how things were when they happened.
Then one day, he arrives in the Western Regions. In a single night, a hundred lamps catch fire, and the dead fall into disarray. Someone is collecting the lamps.
But Jinsheng soon realizes that those people aren't just tampering with the lamps. Beneath the earth lie old traces that should never have been disturbed. As one trace after another breaks, the entire Western Regions begins to experience an unprecedented phenomenon:
First the traces disappear, and only then do the souls begin to scatter.
Someone tells him this is to save more people.
A hundred lamps can protect only ten.
So the other ninety must be sacrificed.
Jinsheng doesn't answer. He simply lifts his blade and looks toward the traces that are disappearing.
Because he is gradually discovering that what he can truly do has never been limited to seeing the past. He can make the past happen again, even when it is already over.
And one day, perhaps...
He can preserve what was supposed to disappear.
At first, I came in because of the setting point of "keeping traces and returning to traces". As a result, the more I read, the more I felt that this book was not just supported by settings. The first few small incidents have hooks, and they can basically be taken back later. The relationship between the characters is not forced to be sensational from the beginning, especially the lines between Jin Sheng and Shuang Ling seem to be quite natural at the moment. The world view is also slowly spread out, without a bunch of settings being crammed into one chapter. What I want to see most now is how the light path, life fire and traces are connected at the back. I hope the author will not overwrite it and just continue at this pace.
The story is relatively novel, and the connection between the soul and the trace also makes people curious. The more I read this book, the more I realize that it is connected with each other. You cannot jump to read it. It is easy to understand if you jump to read it.
