Back to the 1970s: Taking My Nine Sisters-in-Law into the Mountains to Build a Better Life

[Reborn in a bygone era + hunting in the mountains + building wealth + family and village life]

He wakes up in 1970, back in Kushi Gou Brigade at the foot of the Taihang Mountains.

It is a year of famine. The brigade is short on work points, the grain jars are nearly empty, and the village's bullies and bad neighbors scheme every day to seize the property of families without male heirs, pressuring the widowed sisters-in-law to remarry and give up their homes.

In his previous life, every member of the Ye family was a hero. His elder brothers died one after another building reservoirs, fighting floods, and protecting the forests. They left behind nine widowed sisters-in-law, who would rather chew roots and drink vegetable broth than fail to save a mouthful of cornmeal to raise their youngest brother, Ye Weishan.

In this life, when he sees his eldest sister-in-law secretly pushing the family's only half-bowl of mixed-grain flour toward him, Ye Weishan grabs a woodcutter's knife and swears an ironclad oath:

"As long as I'm here, this family won't fall apart! From now on, we'll have fine grain every day and meat at every meal!"

The eight-hundred-li stretch of old-growth forest in the Taihang Mountains is dangerous in winter, with wild beasts roaming everywhere. But to Ye Weishan, who has mastered his family's top hunting techniques and wilderness survival skills, it is a natural granary with endless bounty.

He reads the wind, tracks the animals, sets snares, digs up old ginseng, fights vicious wolves, and hunts wild boars.

His woodcutter's knife clears the way, and his hunting gun makes the mountains tremble. Ye Weishan turns the deep forest into his family's own meat storehouse, and leads his nine clever sisters-in-law in tanning hides, making jerky, gathering mountain treasures, and claiming uncultivated land.

In those hard times, the "poor family with no heirs" in the eyes of the whole village becomes, thanks to him, the first household in the entire commune to have meat at every meal and live in a grand house of gray brick and tiled roofs...
