Three years ago, Jiang Chen was forced to retire after his team falsified its performance data. He also signed a nondisclosure agreement that forbade him from speaking out. Now he delivered food in uniform, until a chance encounter led a women’s club on the verge of disbanding to recruit him for a practice match.
His account rank was conspicuously low, and his teammates didn’t trust him. In the first game, he relied on habits from an old version and gave up first blood. In the second, all he remembered was when the enemy jungler’s monsters would respawn, but that was enough to get his whole team to pick unpopular heroes no one had expected them to use. Fifteen minutes later, the opposing coach called for a timeout.
Jiang Chen would have to retrain for the new version, overcome his injuries, and rebuild his stamina. He also had to bring the truth buried three years ago back to the arena.
