Wancheng from the Start: The Sky Screen Reveals Her as a Top Strategist

No romantic pairing

Guo Wei is a refugee who transmigrates to the Eastern Han dynasty at the end of its reign. She lands in Wancheng.

On the night of the Wancheng mutiny, a sky screen appears.

She had meant to seek refuge with Liu Bei, but is forced to join Cao Cao’s forces instead.

As the sky screen reveals more and more, Guo Wei falls into deep thought.

The sky screen must have it in for her!

Cao Ang looks at the person squatting beside him and eating roasted potatoes, then at the person on the sky screen, holding a feather fan and shaping the world with a wave of his hand. He is filled with doubt.

Is this really the same person as the shrewd, scheming and cunning mastermind revered through the ages, the brilliant strategist who ended the age of chaos, the greatest chancellor of all time, the driving force behind global unification, the backbone of the dynasty...?

He just can’t believe it.

One day, Cao Ang gets an idea and seeks out Guo Wei. “I’ve had a question on my mind for a long time. I just have to ask.”

Guo Wei lies on a deck chair, crunching on a crisp date. “Spit it out. Don’t waste my time.”

Cao Ang is already used to the way Guo Wei talks. “Why was the chancellor so determined to join Liu Bei in the first place?”

Guo Wei is at a loss for words. Guo Wei feels guilty. Guo Wei says nothing and stares at the sky in silence.

Another day, after finishing his official duties, Cao Ang gets a sudden idea. He selects young men from prominent families and sends them to the chancellor’s residence.

When Guo Wei wakes up and opens her door, she finds row upon row of powdered-up men winking at her. So terrified, she goes to court the very next day.

Yet another day, A Dou comes to see Guo Wei, his eyes full of adoration. “Chancellor, the three Cao brothers are bullying me. You have to stand up for me.”

Looking at the fair, tender A Dou, Guo Wei pats him on the head. “A Dou, you’ve grown up. When something like this happens, you fight back, and take Uncle Zilong with you...”
