Shen Zhibai, twenty-seven, is the fourth generation of a family in southern Sichuan known for reading people's fortunes. By day, he is BAEK, a little-known member of the Korean boy band Luli, unknown to everyone outside the stage. In secret, he takes on dirty accounts: fortune-telling and account-reading, appraising treasures and identifying lineages, using Nuo rites to exorcise demons. Orders from the chaebol start at 300 million, while he takes on the troubles of the poor for free.
His golden finger lets him read accounts: debts appear on the objects they are owed for. He can only see them, not change them, and they vanish as soon as he settles them. The more he reads, the more of his fortune he spends.
The story begins with a Korean stone statue whose name was written incorrectly, leading to seven old objects scattered overseas and a set of rules for changing names. From southern Sichuan to Tokyo, Seoul, and London, his path leads back home. Wherever the rules are, that's where he settles the accounts.
